EXPO HOUSE is...
EXPO HOUSE officially opened last May 4th, 2007 at Nishijin. It is a
convergence of different nationalities living in a traditional Japanese
machiya.
It really embraces a borderless atmosphere and could be really a home away from home. I hope you could be one of our guests in the future.
Feel free to keep in touch.

What/Where is Nishijin?
Nishijin town, located northwest of the Old Imperial Palace, is home to Japan's largest handmade weaving industry, with over 1000 years of history. The rhythmical sounds of the weaving looms can still be heard here from early morning to evening time.
Nishijin-ori is traditional artistic fabric in Kyoto, and it is made of silk. It is a hand-made, but it is often made by a machine recently.
Nishijin-ori has long history. A rise and fall of Kyoto are approximately same as this one. In other words, Nishijin-ori walked with Kyoto together. However the number of the persons who inherits this technique is getting smaller and smaller today. It holds such problems but Nishijin-ori is breathing in Kyoto today.
